So today was all about developing our concepts for the final illustration which must be completed at a rather rough draft stage for tomorrow. I spent the day drawing thumbnails but also tried to execute my final piece. I tried to create it in photoshop after college today but it wasn't working out so I resorted to good old fashioned scissors and printed images.....
Here are some of my sketches from today and last night :

Thumbnail and the SCAMPER method...
This morning before CCS I was trying to get some more thumbnail sketches done. I finished some last night but today I've wanted to start looking into concepts for my finished illustration on Friday. I'll work on my concept thumbnails tonight and see how I get on !! It's actually so much fun, I'm really enjoying it, all the thought process and development !
We also learnt about the SCAMPER way of thinking today which was also very interesting ! I'm trying to put this process into practise tonight .....

Visual Communications , First Day ! :-)
So today was our first day of Visual Communication (graphic). I was really excited to start because all year I have felt I would be torn between Fashion and Vis Comm for my final discipline choice. We each were given a word today and we have to develop a concept to convey this word for Friday. My word is SUBMERGE. At first I found it a difficult word but it's grown on me over the day, following my research into it. I've been brainstorming all day and now I'm at the stage of drawing little thumbnail sketches to illustrate my word association based on my mind map. It's actually so much fun and I love the time I can give thinking about concept and trying to develop my ideas into something clever !!

Final Day...
Today was a lot of work trying to get my sketchbooks in order and decide upon my final 6 piece line up. I was enjoying all the work and the bits of contextual research was fun too. Tonight I'll be drawing each piece of the line up from side view, front view and back view. It's so enjoyable doing all these sketches that I won't mind the late night !
Hopefully the assessment goes well tomorrow. It's been a busy but amazing two weeks !
Here are some of the designs and pages which I did after the material work on the mannequin.
All these are just examples of pages in my sketchbook. It's amazing how full my sketchbook is after just 2 weeks but even though there was a lot of work the work was very enjoyable and I can definitely see myself wanting to do fashion as my discipline......I'm going to give the next two electives a try though because I think I'm definitely going to be torn between vis comm and fashion !
So here's the final line-up...... the 6 piece collection.
Hopefully the assessment goes well tomorrow. It's been a busy but amazing two weeks !

Midweek....
This morning I was working on the mannequin making shapes and silhouettes with my fabrics. After CCS, I went back to college working on the mannequins and doing pages of sketches which I continued for the evening.
These are just some of the designs I did today. My favourite fabric to use was probably the medium weight, curtain lining because it was soft but also held shape. I used these shapes to create more designs in my sketchbook. It's such fun work I seriously hardly notice the time passing...
